Sunshine Coast School Holiday Activities

A place where curiosity gets to wander

These September school holidays, we’re opening our gates to families from far and wide. With something on every week of the school holidays, Alsawha Estate is transforming into the perfect place for curious kids to explore, parents to relax and reconnect, and families to slow down together.

Honey Heroes

Wednesday 23rd September (SOLD OUT) & Thursday 1st October

Session 1: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM
Session 2: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

An immersive experience for little nature lovers these school holidays.

Join us at Alsahwa Estate for a hands-on morning where kids step into the world of bees, learning how they live, how honey is made, and why they’re so important to our ecosystem.

Guided by our beekeepers, the experience blends education, exploration, and play, followed by a relaxed brunch on the lawn.

Each child will leave as an official Honey Hero, with seeds to plant at home and help support our pollinators.

Little Growers

Thursday 24th September

8:30 AM – 10:00 AM

Join us for a fun, hands-on gardening workshop where kids discover the magic of growing their own food while exploring the beautiful gardens of Alsahwa Estate.

Young gardeners will dig, plant and explore as they learn about healthy soil, composting worms, seasonal produce and sustainable gardening.

Kids will enjoy interactive activities including harvesting from the garden, meeting our composting worms, discovering what’s growing around the estate and planting their very own pea seeds to take home.

After getting their hands dirty, little growers will wash up and enjoy a delicious brunch box in the beautiful Agora before heading home with their planted seeds, new gardening skills and plenty of inspiration to continue growing at home.

Koala Detective Workshop

Wednesday 30th September

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Join us for an exciting, hands-on workshop where 11-year-old koala expert, Malani from Koala Family Adventures, shares her passion and teaches kids the clues wildlife experts use to spot koalas in the wild, along with how to recognise the signs of a sick or injured koala.

Then it’s time to put those new skills into action on a Koala Quest through the gardens of Alsahwa Estate!

Whilst we won’t be searching for real koalas, children will take part in a fun practice challenge, hunting for cleverly hidden koala claw marks and scats tucked amongst the trees. As they search, they’ll learn how to scan tree trunks and ground cover to find signs of a koala’s presence and use these expert techniques to uncover clues as to where a koala is hidden on the property.

Following the quest, kids can find a relaxed spot to enjoy their brunch box in Agora!

Lawn Games

19th September – 4th October

Weather permitting during opening hours.

Set in Agora all school holidays (weather permitting), kids can enjoy old-fashioned, barefoot lawn-game fun – while parents settle in to enjoy a selection of drinks and food at our picnic tables by the Duck House Dam.

With no booking required, it’s an easy activity to suit any spare moments these school holidays.

For parents

While the kids are meeting the bees or stacking giant Jenga blocks across Agora, there’s just as much for you to enjoy close by. Order a coffee to carry as you go, settle onto a picnic blanket and enjoy some nibbles and watch the morning unfold.

When it’s time for a meal, ēthos is right there – a beautiful lunch, a glass of something good, and enough things to keep the kids busy. Whether you’re moving between activities or simply wandering the grounds at your family’s pace, the whole estate is yours to slow down in.
